Benoni
1.d4 c5
The Benoni is a dynamic opening which aims to exploit the semi open e file, and the comfortable knight outpost square on e5, to generate counterplay in the variations where white plays d5 and dxe6. Unfortunately there is a particularly dangerous variation at White's disposal which many players consider a near refutation of this opening. This variation involves white playing e4 and f4 and an early Bb5+. If White does not go in for this variation however, black has dynamic chances.
